How to Perform a BlogVault Function with an SSH Key Instead of SFTP Details

BlogVault allows you to use a private key (i.e. an SSH key) instead of your site’s SFTP details. This help document will show you how to perform BlogVault functions with SSH key instead of SFTP details.

These details are only required to perform by Auto Restore and Migrate under the backup module, and ‘Secure Site’ under the Security module.

If you’d like to perform these functions with an SSH key instead of SFTP details, you’ll have to:

1. Navigate to any one of these features.

2. Click on ‘SFTP’ to enter the SFTP username. This will also give you a grey notification next to ‘FTP password’

Clicking on SFTP will bring up a tab for SSH key instead of FTP password

Clicking on SFTP will bring up a tab for SSH key instead of FTP password

3. Click on ‘SSH key’. This will allow you to enter the SSH key related to your site.

Clicking on 'SSH' will allow you to enter your site's SSH key

Once you enter the SSH key you can continue with the function you’d like to perform on your site.
